What is Long Term Care?
A national project helping individuals, organizations and communities learn about and plan for Long Term Care needs.
About What is Long Term Care?

The beginning of the Long Term Care Project goes back to 2002 when the Federal government began offering Long Term Care Insurance to federal employees, retirees and their families. To help get the Federal program started 15 Long Term Care Insurance experts from around the U.S. conducted over 2000 educational meetings for federal employees on behalf of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. The sessions provided clear and accurate information given in plain language explaining what is Long Term Care, where Long Term Care is received and who pays for it. People could ask questions and even get personal one-on-one sessions with one of the 15 experts. Educational meetings were held in every corner of the U.S for every Federal agency and it was the largest Long Term Care educational effort in U.S. history.

The great success of these 2000 educational meetings for Federal employees made clear the great need for a similar live educational program at the grass roots level available nationwide for the general public that would provide clear and accurate information given in plain language explaining what is Long Term Care, where Long Term Care is received and who pays for it.

The Long Term Care Project is a national nonprofit effort started by some of the original 15 Long Term care Insurance experts who helped start the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program to create a national, grassroots program of live educational seminars for the general public, for elected officials and their staffs, civic and business leaders and members of the media. We can also offer guidance and advice to companies that want to help their employees plan for and deal with Long Term Care issues in their families.
